Thursday, October 27 – Overhauling the Competition Act: What has ‎happened and what lies ahead

On June 23, 2022, the Competition Act was amended with diverse changes including the criminalization of wage-fixing and no-poach agreements between employers, private enforcement and expansion of the abuse of dominance regime, increased penalties for criminal and civil misconduct, changes affecting pre-merger notifications and drip pricing. Yet this is only the beginning. The government is undertaking a broader consultation for reforms that could shift the goal-posts even further.
