Pride Jani is a director in the Finance, Projects and Restructuring team at DLA Piper based in Johannesburg, South Africa, specialising in debt and preference share finance transactions.
Pride has considerable experience advising funders, sponsors and shareholders on finance transactions across Africa including in the renewable energy and mining finance sectors including advising one of South Africa’s major banks in relation to funding made available to Ithokazi for the purposes of refinancing debt, restructuring shareholding and acquiring shares in renewable energy projects, resulting in the creation of one of South Africa’s largest 100% black-owned renewable energy producers. More recently Pride was part of the team which advised on the refinancing of a project bond (the only listed bond in SA of its type) which had been issued for purposes of funding a renewable energy project in South Africa. Pride is also part of a team advising a lender in relation to green loan financing to be made available to a sponsor for purposes of funding its equity contributions in respect of a renewable energy project in South Africa.
