Director and Head of Project Finance – Infrastructure & Climate Group, British International Investment (BII)
Iain has grown the project finance team since joining British International Investment (BII) late 2016 both in team size and diversified expertise and quantum of deals executed. Focusing on growth of the originated pipeline, diversification across multiple infrastructure sectors and being appointed as MLA in a greater portion of our deals in execution. The team has grown to successfully implement this.
Before BII, Iain held senior positions at Nedbank’s Corporate and Investment Bank in South Africa 15 years’ in infrastructure Project Finance.
Iain brings extensive project finance experience, as lead arranger of transactions and debt syndicates across a broad range of infrastructure sectors, across SA and sub-Saharan Africa, including telecoms (where for a number of years he led Nedbank’s Telecommunications team), road and rail infrastructure, African real estate, agri-processing, general infrastructure and water.
For the first ten years of his career, Iain worked in business consulting, engineering, property development. Iain Holds an MBA from Wits Business School and a BSc and MSc from Wits University Johannesburg. Iain holds South African national colours for rowing.
