Partner and Regional Director for Europe, Dalberg Advisors
Aly-Khan Jamal is a Partner and Regional Director for Europe at Dalberg. A unifying theme across his work involves directing large flows of investment capital to areas where it can generate both returns and impact. As a result, Aly-Khan is particularly active in Dalberg’s Investing for Development practice, and has extensive experience working with development finance institutions, private equity funds, a diverse array of impact investment vehicles and with corporate / strategic investors.
Aly-Khan works on a diverse range of issues with these stakeholders. Recent mandates include: developing the strategy and design of the AfriBioFund, an AFDB and UNESCO backed fund to support 79 biosphere reserves across Africa; the strategy and design of CDC Group’s off-grid energy debt strategy and associated fund; defining Actis’ impact fund strategy; and the design and structuring of the AFDB’s Facility for Energy Inclusion, aiming to be a $500m fund investing into renewable energy companies and projects across Africa.
Aly-Khan began his career at OC&C Strategy Consultants in their Paris and London offices with a primary focus on their Private Equity practice, where he gained substantial experience in commercial due diligence and sector / portfolio reviews for firms including majors such as Texas Pacific Group, The Blackstone Group, The Carlyle Group, KKR, CVC, 3i and Apax, plus a range of boutiques that focus on specific markets and/pr verticals in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
Aly-Khan holds a Bachelors in Arts from Oxford University in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, a Masters in Economics from McGill University and expects to graduate from Harvard Business School in 2023.
